This campaign focused on fighting the ACT Government’s recent decision to auction off Telopea Park School’s Tennis Courts as part of a land swap deal involving Manuka Oval, Canberra Services Club and the Manuka Occasional Child Care Association (MOCCA).

This transfer of land was done without informing or consulting the school community, residents within our immediate and priority enrolment suburbs and other stakeholders.

The tennis courts are where our children at Telopea Park School play sports as part of their curriculum. While the government promised funds to build new sporting facilities, the land grab would have significantly reduces the open space available to children at our already-crowded school.

Without strong commitment and involvement from the parent community, we could not have won this battle.  The Telopea P&C had a fantastic subcommittee of hardworking parents volunteers who worked with the P&C Executive to plan and implement the campaign. Our approach was strategic, strong and united. Thank you for supporting our efforts!
